to the QTH of KC4USH in Beautiful DownTown Chesapeake, Virginia |

I received my Amateur license on July 25th, 2002. My original call sign was KG4UKV. A few short days after receiving KG4UKV, I applied for and was granted, my first and only choice vanity call, KC4USH, on August 31st of 2002. The reason for this particular vanity call, is it once belonged to Cape Hallett Station (KC4USH), Antarctica. My father, now a Silent Key, once used this call sign while stationed at Hallett Station during DEEP FREEZE 60. Those early morning QSO's via Phone Patch Traffic on 20 meters provided the catalist needed to develop the interest and love for Amateur Radio, that I have enjoyed since 1960. One interesting point, the call sign seems to be able to go right to the head of the line during a pile up, When I requested this particular vanity call sign, I never envisioned that aspect of it, I guess some hams still think it's Antarctica calling, (hi, hi). "Thank You Dad, KC4USH, dit dit dit da dit da"
